Earlier this year I had a week of hell for my incubator (thermostat failure and home AC failure within a few days of each other) that caused temperatures to spike above 95F multiple times. At the time I had two clutches incubating - Dragonfly x Bumblebee (2 eggs) and Calibee x Ivory (8 eggs). I didnt lose any eggs right away, but I didnt want to get my hopes up. The last of the hatchlings came out today and this is the result:
Dragonfly x Bumblebee
- Spinner Firefly
- Dragonfly - 2 Kinks and a Deformed Eye
Calibee x Ivory
- Calibee YB
- Bumblebelly
- Spider YB - No Eyes and Bilateral Cleft Palate
- Pastel YB - No Eyes
- Yellowbelly
- (3) Severely Kinked / Underdeveloped Morphs DIE
It seems (so far) that only 4 out of 10 developed regularly. Time will tell how the dragonfly, spider YB and pastel YB fare. One of the dragonfly's kinks is right at the vent and that is my biggest concern. Im also not sure how the cleft palate on the spider YB will affect his ability to eat/drink.
Ill add picture of the Spider YB and Pastel YB. These are the first eyeless snakes Ive seen in person, but Ive known of a few others that lived normal lives.
