    Question Question about mice size.

Had my ball python a month now he has eaten 1 small mouse every 5 days which I believed to be to small although. The pet store was giving him one every seven when we got him he was 235g at 9 month old. He was. A premature hatchling though at 29g but has always been a solid eater. since I had him he gained 75g so i decided to try a small rat tonight which the pet store said he wasnt old enough took instantly, took about 10 minutes to swallow and made a nice lump in his belly the rat was about the same girth as him. Will i just be able to give a rat every 7-10 days now? Also In the month I've had him I moved him from a little terraniun to a 3 foot viv which he has settled in immediately and is eating. From what I read it's hard to get onto rats he loved it so in a month he's moved his house twice had me playing with his temps constantly, and he is been handled for maybe 10 minutes a day apart from 48 hours after feeding. He has defiantly filled out nicely doesn't look fat but more muscle in him. I do believe he his about the shed though eyes a little blue skin a little dull. And he's also started to strike since we had him last two times which he never did for pet store the rat was instant. I done a lot of reading about them but does he sound happy? And should I keep him on rats now any tips tips welcome his temps are 91 hot side 78 cold side humidity about 65-70 and his weight was 300 gram before his rat haha and about 2 and half foot long. Hope this makes sense don't like typing off i phone thanks in advance

I'm so glad to hear that your little preemie baby is doing well. sounds like you're doing a great job with husbandry and everything. he sounds happy and is doing well. this forum has been helpful for me also. I read on here that feed your baby BP every 5 days until they're 500grams and then you could feed every 7 days (or weekly). once they're adults, BP's can be fed every other week. good work on the switch to rats. if the lump is too big, move down to weaned rats.

as long as you're snake is eating, pooping, shedding and growing, you're doing a good job.
    RIP Mamba
