Personally, I prefer the clear sided ones so that I can keep an eye on my snakes and make sure everything is okay without completely disturbing them. Only time I've used the fully opaque tub was when I had super stressed blood python hatchlings, and when I took in a snake that a local acquaintance was worried about because he had been off food for so long and lost quite a bit of weight.
