Well, I'm very grateful for your support, but unfortunately little Twiggy didn't make it. I was to do the liquid feeding thing yesterday and found him dead. I think he'd died already a day before that, because he was in the exact same position still. I was surprised and chocked, because I'd been so hopeful... I had even given him a name, thinking he'd be fine. The vet was surprised, too, and thought that it might have been the stress of the force feeding that finally knocked him out. I can only hope I didn't cause him too much suffering in his short life and comfort myself by trying to think that I did everything I could. Maybe he just wasn't supposed to survive.

I gave him a beautiful grave by the sea and put a heavy rock on top. I dug the grave in the middle of the night, it was raining and the forest paths were flooded and I ruined my shoes for him. I'm so sorry for the poor little snake. I hope he's in snake heaven now, playing happily with his sister who died a few weeks ago. I still feel like crying when I think about it.

I'm so sorry about poor Twiggy. Some of them just aren't meant to survive, and I guess he was one. You did everything you could reasonably have done for the poor little guy. At least your chosen one is still doing well, but it's hard to lose one. It sounds like you gave him a beautiful send-off, though.

Oh, thank you. I just wanted the best for him. I can't help caring so much for little beings... I even cry when I whack mousie babies. I feel like I'm doing wrong, so wrong. I just hope he's happy now, the poor little snake.
