best substrate for hatchlings
Which one is better to use for hatchlings? Wood shavings? Or newspapers?.

Whats easier for the keeper is the true question.
Paper towels.

I always use paper towels for hatchlings. Lets me monitor health better by being able to immediately see signs of defecation, urates, mites etc that might be hidden in a shredded substrate. Easy to clean also.

Paper towel is great and easy and if you have hatchlings that how a little shy, harder to start, provide them with aspen, that will allow them to bury themselves offering more security.
I keep all mine on aspen now.
