New Python, A First For Me

I finally acquired a snake that I have wanted for decades and she was worth the wait! I received a female 2014 Angolan from Zoo Creatures (NERD) yesterday and I am thrilled with this little girl. She was confident right out of the bag she came in and although I broke my own rules I fed her less than 10 hours of settling her in. I opened the lid of her tub to show her to my wife and she tagged me quick as a viper. It seemed more like a feeding response than a defensive bite so I thawed a rat pup and she took it off of the tongs before I realized that she was interested. Her behavior and handling is more like a tame retic or active carpet than a ball, in fact, the only thing ball-like about her is her head. I own and really enjoy ball pythons and carpets but this Angolan, so far, is sort of in a class of its own. We named her Nyoka which is the Swahili word for snake. I will be getting at least one more Angolan by year's end. I don't know how to add an attachment on this site so I posted a link to one of our Flickr pages if you would like to see her.

Thanks guys, I am giving serious thought breeding this species and I think that she'll be ready in 2017. I'm working on getting an unrelated male to raise but I haven't had much luck finding one.

    Congrats on your beauty there.

I believe that is the first one that I have seen.
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

Please excuse the spelling in my posts. Auto-Correct is my worst enema.
