Daylight cycle for snakes
So a while ago when I was still new to snakes the small petshop owner I was buying supplies from had told me that I don't need to have a daylight cycle insinuated by my lamp and if I just kept a dark light on that gave heat 24/7 it would be fine. Now I'm not so sure. I have a window in my room so there is natural light coming in but should I also have a daylight light separate from the dark light and switch between them?

The person you talked with is correct. Ball pythons don't have any known light requirements. Any lighting you provide would be for your enjoyment only.

As long as natural daylight is getting into the room you're fine, BP's don't need any additional lighting.

Ball pythons might not need a day/night cycle, but I do think it's optimal to provide one to any animal that would experience it naturally. I wouldn't worry about artificial lighting in your case, though. Ambient natural light should do just fine!

Like others have said, no lighting needed for these guys. Mine only ever get ambient lighting, and whatever my chameleon and dragons let off with their lights.

I've only ever used the ambient lighting, keeping it as close to their natural day/night cycle that they would in the wild simply by closing and opening the blinds to imitate that cycle. He seems happy and healthy as a pig in [slop].

I keep my balls in grey Freedom Breeder tubs. They do great. They eat better than when they were in clear tubs.

Do you all keep your ball pythons under heat lamps or have Uth?
