Comfortable Temperature

I understand that a BP that spends a lot of time lunging in their water bowl may be hot. My tank temp is 88 on the hot side, and 81 on the cool, and the humidity is 50. My BP has been lounging in his water bowl I'm assuming all day. He was there when i went to work and there when I got home just now. Should i lower the temp?

How are you measuring temps? Infrared heat gun is your most accurate bet for hot spot temps. Check for mites, soaking too much could be a sign. Usually you will find some dead ones in the water bowl, and usually on the snakes belly. That being said, I have had bps that just randomly soak. Even though we know they aren't prolific speakers, it's not uncommon to see a healthy snake in the water bowl. Maybe try providing a humid hide too?

I will check for mites. in the event there are any what should i do? whats the best way to treat. if there are none in the water should i treat the tank or wait until they present themself? i had another hide in his tank but he had no interest in it at all, so pulled it out and added more plant decorations that cover up a corner of his tank completely. he seems to like it. he just started hanging in his water bowl yesterday that i noticed. but it was only for about 15 minutes.

Check your other post. I'm pretty sure he's just about to shed. Wouldn't worry too much about mites unless you visibly see some.

ok. well i didnt see any. i read that baby balls shed ever couple of weeks, is that true? because ive had him for about two weeks now. so i assume it would be about time to. so i guess i got two BPs going through a shed.
