    Deformed head!!

Just had this baby mojave leave the egg and it is deformed with a narrow head. Apart from the narrow head all seems fine, motor skills, neurological function, tongue movements all fine no kinks ether.
Im sure i have read about it some where b4 but can't seem to find it on the web now.
Anyone have any experience with this deformity?? Will he be able to eat okay obv i will offer smaller prey items.

Not sure, but I think this can occur when the eggs are laid and the affected egg is a roll out from the clutch. He doesn't really seem to be that severe at all. Handsome little guy! Do you recall if that was the case?

    Re: Deformed head!!

It looks like Justin Kobylka relates the narrowed head as a developmental defect that is associated with "hardbelly syndrome". There is quite a bit of info on it if you google "narrowed head in bp hatchlings". Good luck. Hope this helps.

No. The hatchling will be fine. The skull is normal, no defect, there is just no muscle in the head. I have had two babies hatch out like this an turn out looking normal by the time they were about 200 grams.
    Mine just after hatch

at about 100 grams far left

    at about 200 grams

    and at 300 grams

    Your guy will be fine.

    Deformed head!!

Yes what they said ^ my super black pastel had a narrow head and it's head is a lot wider now with muscle. He will grow out of it.

Whew! I'm glad to hear that narrow heads are not big things to worry about. I like this forum; I always seem to learn new stuff.
