    BP Enclosure

So while I was at the pet store this weekend I noticed they were cleaning the enclosures so I went and watched. They were spraying the cages or whatever their called with something in a spray bottle. Not misting but literally drenching everything. I thought it was some sort of special mix because i noticed all the pet stores sell a special spray to raise the humidity in the tanks. i asked the guy what they used and he said its straight water. so my question which is better? water or the stuff they sell? and then how much should be used? im asking because sometimes it is hard to maintain the humidity in my tanks because we keep the house kind of cool. i put towls over half of the top of the tank which seems to help. but what should i be spraying?

Plain water is just fine and unless your snake is having trouble shedding I wouldn't worry about it at all. Ball pythons don't need super high humidity and keeping the tank too moist can lead to issues also. I have a room humidifier I run during winter or dry spells for my more tropical snakes. Getting rid of the fish tank and using a tub or pvc enclosure will keep humidity much better too.

You stated they were cleaning the enclosures? If they're cleaning them, they shouldn't be using just water...

    Re: BP Enclosure

when i went back the next day (sunday) the snakes were still in the enclosures but they had taken everything else out, and it was still like that yesterday (monday). i dont know if that matters. now its just the snakes with some kind of paper as substrate, and a plastic container turned upside down for them to use as a hide.
