How often can I safely feed?

The mice I have are somewhat small for my snake (I don't see a bulge once they're in her stomach), so I'm just curious how often can I safely feed my snake? Surely not more than once a day? How about every other day or every three days? I finally got her eating, so I want to keep her growing on these small mice I have so I can buy the next size up once they're gone.

The best option is to stick to whatever schedule you're on (ie. every 5-7 days), but feed multiple mice per feeding, so that the snake's food intake is roughly equal in weight to a properly sized feeder.

I agree with Judy. Feeding once a week multiple mice is the way to go.

So how does one go about feeding multiple rodents? Wait to offer the second one when she sticks her head out of her hide? I have been contemplating this for my boa as I'm sure the one adult mouse is not enough but was unclear as to how to properly do this to ensure that she has digested properly before giving her a second one. But the small rats that I have seen are too big for her, I think, and don't want to jeopardize her feeding habit.

Just one after another. As soon as she has the first down, offer the second. She'll still be in food mode and should take it readily.

    Thumbs up

you could probably feed her 2 in a row if she still looks hungry after the first. I do it all the time and it's never been a problem! gotta make sure you're feeding her enough

I never knew feeding one after the other was ok, I had thought snakes would need time to digest the first meal. I just put another mouse in her tank and within 2 minutes she was coiled around it. She won't eat with me watching so I leave the room and peak in to see her progress lol.

Oh! Is it bad at all if she eats a bit of eco earth? I feed in her tank and the stuff is everywhere and it sticks to the mouse so ya...

I agree with what you said about sticking to mice and waiting to go with rat until the snake is large enough to handle a small rat. I feed my snake 2 mice. When you see the head either just inside or barely outside the hide it's kind of like the doctor who say's "who's next"

Eco earth won't cause impaction even in small reptiles like anoles, it won't bother her.
