As a kid we had a creek running through our back yard. Our house got flooded three times. One morning as the the water was receding I found a giant snapper in the street.
It was a monster like in the videos. I remember the shell being as large as the chest of???? I want to to say a man, but you know how memories change as you age. It was probably the size of a child's torso, which is still huge!
I know it wasn't smaller because we used to catch snappers all the time.
This one made a HUGE impression.
I remember this one older kid picked up a sick the size of a baseball bat and started poking it. That turtle snapped it in two!Then that long neck reached straight back over his shell and almost took one kids hand off.
I gained a lot of respect for snappers that day.
