Out of curiosity, is there any reason why you're feeding live? Will he not take pre-killed or f/t? Have you tried? Unfortunately, it's pretty common for ball pythons to become afraid of live meals after they've been attacked. I would try feeding a pre-killed or f/t weaned or small rat and see if he takes it-it's a lot safer for the snake.
