Which species has the best feeding response/garbage disposal snake? LOL

In your experience, which pet species has the best feeding response in terms of literally eating any prey thrown at them? In other words, rat and mouse garbage disposal?

In my experience, my Red Tail Boa and Coastal Carpet Python will not and have not ever turned down a meal. Nor any extra that was refused by the BP.

I haven't tried quail or rabbits yet on my Boa as others have with theirs. As far as my Carpet, the previous owner gave her chicken wings and drumsticks sometimes.

Rodents will NOT go to waste in my house, for I have Dual Garbage Disposals.

I agree with the boa. My boa eats anything, anytime, though we try not to over feed him. Anything smaller our corn snake readily takes it with out a second thought.

We do have BPs that do readily take left overs though. Some are stronger eaters then others. Out of 14 bps that I have only one has feeding issues.

I have heard that boas will eat anything but I have no experience with them. A snake I do have experience with is my corn he has maybe missed 3 meals in his life time and he is about 3 or 4. When ever my baby bps don't eat their mice I give them to him.

Interesting, is there a specific type of boa or BCI that has a better or worse rep for feeding response? Or just... all boas. All of the boas.

I've already been considering a corn- even more motivation- slightly more motivation now LOL.

^^This, kept burms and retics and they were always eager to have seconds if one of the BP's did not eat. I'm sure any of the crocodilian species would be a candidate as well.

If you're just looking for a garbage disposal for 1-2 snakes then you have lots of options. There are plenty of snakes out there that will quite literally eat themselves to death if you let them; Pituophis have to be near the top of the list in this regard. If you find yourself needing to dispose of a larger number of rodents then you'll want multiple snakes acting as second, or one larger species, so as not to end up with a morbidly obese animal.

I like using my bull snakes for clean up because they are on the larger side for colubrids. A big male can easily handle a couple medium rats and you will barely see a lump. I'll also offer second servings to the carpet pythons but pay special attention to their build and make sure they maintain healthy muscle tone. When I'm looking to retire breeder rats, the papuan python lends a helping hand. Just take care with any animal you nominate as garbage disposal, frequent overfeeding can drastically shorten their lifespan.

I second the blood pythons for garbage disposals. I have a few adult bloods that will be more than happy to eat any leftovers that are refused from the balls that are off of food right now. If one of the females that I am trying to get to gain weight don't want a second, then the bloods get them. Their feeding response is so strong. that they will eat almost anything. Becoming overweight can be an issue with the bloods, so be careful not to feed them too much.

My SD retics are first, with the other retics right behind them.

The boas are also good except I have two, one of which is my biggest female that are now refusing rabbits but will slam a jumbo rat.
