Seperate rooms

Who here keeps their males and females in separate rooms? Asking because i had 2 males that wont eat because they smell girls. I had to buy a ready to go female from a friend. Don't get me wrong, making some honeybees as we speak so that is good. Just wondering who splits up their genders

Nope.
My quarantine is in a different room, dont care who I get an animal from. They are at least 90 days over there.

I have never heard of males not eating because they were in the same room as the females. I have never ever heard of that. My males have been in the same room with my females for years and I hardly ever have either one not eat for me. Snakes may have goo smelling capabilities but it isn't THAT good.

My male colubrids can tell when there's a female in the room, and they act a little crazy, but it's never turned into a full on food strike or anything.

No, never had an issue. Any males that stop eating start up pretty soon after I stop breeding them.

All my males and females regardless of the species are in the same room and it is VERY rare that a male will go off feed.

There has been information in the literature on breeding ball pythons that supports the op. Males that are in the same rack, not the same room, have gone off food due to the pheromonal pick up of breedable females close by. VMS herpetoculture is one of the sources. I will try to get the others.
