my previous tank had a built in thermostat, and I do have one on the way and have the UTH unplugged and have a heat lamp on his hot side in the time being, the thermometer probe i have in his hot side at the top 1/4" of substrate within his hot hide and it reads 88*F almost all the time. But I will make sure to burry it to the bottom and follow your diagram.
Guess ill also go back to newspaper and only use the coco bricks when its time to bump up the humidity during shedding.
