It's Day 58...
First off, I'm new here, so hey everyone!
I'm on Day 58 of my first *successful* clutch (my first ever clutch was five slugs). I've got 6 dimpled nice pretty white eggs. I've incubated them at 88.5, so Day 58 (today) is the day I'm expecting to see something. However, so far I've got nothing. Nada. Occasionally I candle the eggs just to check that they're okay and sometimes the move, sometimes they don't. I really don't want to cut- I'm afraid to hurt the snakes. But I've decided that if none of them have made a move by Day 60, I'll get brave and buckle down and do it.
So my question is, should I see something happen today? People seem to think that when they are incubated at 88.5 they pip on Day 58. Am I just being impatient? Or should I be worried?
Thank you!

Re: It's Day 58...
First, take a deep breath. These snakes have been hatching for ions without our help. I would suggest you not candle anymore because when they move around in the egg they are shying from the light. While I have no proof of this, I believe it could result in a baby tangling itself in its umbilicus.
You say you are incubating at 88.5 but what are you measuring the temps with to corroborate that? Are you just going from the thermostat or have you been verifying with a temp gun? If it is truly is 88.5 then things should happen soon. Just watch for little cuts to appear in the shell or a head poking out suddenly without warning. I never cut unless one doesn't pip for 24 hours after all the others have. Best of luck and I look forward to pics of the babies.

Thanks for the great reply! I will definitely stop candling. The herpstat probe read 88.5 and the probe inside the box read 88.

Re: It's Day 58...
Been there too. The babies will hatch when they hatch. Just be patient.
I wrote "Herpers need glacial patience!" on my incubator. When toughing out the last few days, I remember that and get out of the house. I garden or take in a movie at the mall or ride my bicycle. Anything to keep my itchy fingers away from the scissors.
Good luck.
