    I got a question

    Hey everyone,

as some of you might now/remember I am pairing my Calico Super Pastel male to my Lesser Pastel female and when you have seen the photo's you know they had some good locks

Earlier today I noticed my Lesser Pastel lady is going into shed, now I figure this probably is just a shed according to her normal shedding cycle, right?

Last time she shed was on May 22nd. I only started pairing them in June so I am assuming this is just regular shed but just want to be sure.

Also would like to know, should I wait with introducing the male again till after the shed? or does that not matter?

I am keeping track on everything involving this pairing, when I introduced the male, when I placed him in his own tub, locks that I have seen, when and what they eat. Should I also keep track of her shedding or is this not of much importance if it isn't the shed after she ovulated (pre lay shed, right?)?.

    thanks,

    Andrew

    Re: I got a question

Sounds about the right time for a normal shed cycle. I was pairing mine at least once every shed cycle or if you are only working the male with one partner then twice a shed cycle would be fine. You really don't know if it's a pre-ovulation shed until they ovulate.

    Haha no I guessed that

That's why I didn't mention a pre-ovultion shed that plus it just seems why to soon to be an pre-ovulation shed.

But from your answer I take it I should just wait with placing the male with her till after she has shed?

    Re: I got a question

IMO, it's a little early for a prelay shed from this pairing but ,was she ever bred with another male? If she was, or if she was gravid in the past she could've harbored retained sperm from last season or a prior pairing. Then it very well could be a pre lay shed? Or maybe pre ovulatory? The more record keeping you do the more second nature it will become.
Stay in peace and not pieces.

    HeY thanks Albert,

No this is her first pairing, got her as a hatchling and she has never seen a male before

I'll just keep track of everything as it also might give me a better understanding for future pairings

definitely her regular shed. You would have noticed all sorts of building and behavioral differences if it was her pre lay shed. I strongly recommend:
