Two Adult Royal/Ball Python Housing
Hi all,
I have two adult Royal Pythons (about 13 years old) and am wondering what size vivarium would be suitable?
I know ideally, this should be 3ft (l) x 2ft (w) x 2ft (h) for one but they are both in the same viv?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam

They each need their own space. If you want vivs/tanks then 36"x18"x18" should be sufficient, otherwise 41-qt tubs in a rack.

bcr229 has got the sizes right. They need their own homes man... It is better overall for their health.

Re: Two Adult Royal/Ball Python Housing
Everything I read about them is that they do best in a rack. They are on the shy side and enjoy hiding away in their own tub. Also fish tanks are horrible for holding in heat and humidity. If you do want them on display get a animal plastics T8 with a divider. It is a nice enclosure for the money and a 24"x24" floor plan is enough room for each of them.
I built my own rack and it was cheap and easy.

They absolutely need their own space. Cannibalism isn't common with ball pythons, but it's still a possibility, plus snakes really just want to be alone. Having two snakes in one enclosure stresses them out and may trigger illnesses and fasting. The tank you mentioned is certainly big enough; however, you will need two of those, one for each snake. You can also use tubs, they do hold humidity/temps better, but honestly, it's not hard to manage that in a tank once you get the hang of things. My BP is in a tank and I've never had any problems. Just make sure to cover most of the top with plexiglas and/or aluminum foil.

You should not house them together. Look at animal plastics or look into building your own 41qt rack. for only 2 it will be very inexpensive to build. I built both of mine and each are 8 tubs and cost me about 125 each. Reptile Basics also have inexpensive 3 tier racks. I had tanks and once I got the racks they started doing better. Sheds, eating, over better. But that's my opinion, others may have different opinions.
