Feed or not to feed?

Cake arrived yesterday! He's a cute little guy.

He spent the day and yesterday settling in... and I noticed that he has now been slithering around his tub and flicking his tongue every half second for the past couple hours. I've learned that I should wait a week or so before attempting to feed his first meal after shipping. But he does seem like he is looking for food. The breeder fed him last Thursday.

Should I just suck it up and wait it out, or... would it be alright to attempt to feed now?

And a related question... do failed feeding attempts affect the next time I attempt to feed?

I just bought a snake and she ate the first day I brought her home. Most will suggest to give her some time. But I see no harm in attenpting. If they don't take it then give it a week. Just make sure you can take care of the rat/mouse for a week

It'd be perfectly fine to offer him food. I've had ones that ate straight out of the box, and others that wanted to settle in for a few days first. Just make sure to have a plan if you offer him live and he doesn't take it the first time.

Alright, thanks guys! I'm using F/T, so it's all good. I unfortunately made a noob mistake and forgot to thaw the frozen mouse before offering it to him while he was in his hunting mode LOL... He poked the mouse with his nose multiple times, before I remembered.
By the time I realized, I guess it already turned him off. hahah. I'll try again next week. :o

Just randomly updating that Cake has eaten! I'm so glad.
He was even on live feeding before with his breeder, so the fact that he took the thawed/heated mouse so easily gives me a lot of relief.
