Slightly panicking

I asked my girlfriend to turn the humidifier on in my tank today for 5 minutes then turn it off. This was at about 4. Well she turned it on and left without turning it off and I just got home (12:40) to a tank that you couldn't see inside of because there was so much fog... The snake seems like he's fine but I haven't done anything but looked at him, didn't pick him up or anything just touched him to see if he would respond (he did). Should I dry him off? Should I put him in a dry enclosure for the night? Can this cause ri's?? I'm kind of freaking out right now...

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Usually they have to be in a humid enclosure for days. I would dry the tank out or put him in a temporary enclosure until the usual dries out. You can keep an eye on him. Usually symptoms of an RI do not show up for a week or two, so if you are concerned, just keep an eye out. Don't be tricked by the odd yawn though. But he should be just fine.

Okay thank you, added some dry substrate on top of the moist stuff, wasn't too bad but humidity was at 99%. Checked about 10 minutes ago and was down to 70. Got the top open with 2 heat lamps on to help dry it out without getting it too hot

That is good. 70% is an okay humidity for a ball python. He will be safe to live in that kind of environment. I raise my snakes humidity to about 70% when they are shedding and usually for about a week at a time. Have had no issues what so ever.

I wouldn't have worried about it. Its not like a snake never experiences a rain storm in the wild where it is exposed to higher humidity than normal for a while.

You should put the humidifier on a timer so you don't have to deal with it and don't risk leaving it on again.
