    Best substrate

    What do you guys use? Pros and cons??? I'm currently using cypress and thought about going to something cleaner like aspen, but not sure how to keep humidity stable using something such as aspen

    Orchid bark everytime. Very dark so any brightly coloured snake will look great . Also easily washed , dried and used time after time

    Sure , why not , if people are in a tight budget or avoiding it because of the price ...

    Sure it's a bit of a ball-ache but very rewarding when I've saved £15 / $ 20 .

    The hardest part is drying it out if you need it quickly but I have spare bags so there's plenty of time for it to dry out naturally ( in the greenhouse ) . I have dried some in the oven before now though .

    You can add a little F10 to the wash to disinfect too. Orchid growers do it all the time. You can probably do this for 1-2 years before the bark starts to break down.

    I like white paper towels cause its easy to clean up easy to spot any messes. Cost is not that bad. I use a rack system so i don't care how it looks
