    New!

I'm new to this forum, and we just got our first Ball Python about two weeks ago. I've been around snakes a lot in the past and had a corn snake at one point, but I've always wanted a ball!

I do have one question. When we got our little girl, the shop owner told us that she is a leopard Mojave and that this is a very new morph. I was looking in the morphs section of the forum and didn't see this one listed.....was the guy full of crap, or is it very new like he said?
I can't post a photo from my phone, but she is in my avatar photo!

A Leopard Mojave is a not a necessarily a "morph" per se, but rather a combo of the Leopard and Mojave morphs. I guess it really depends on where you fall with respect to "ball-netics" vernacular. Some would say that it is a morph, and that it is a combo of the "base" morphs Leopard and Mojave. That's neither here, nor there, though.

If you bred a Leopard with a Mojave, on average, 25% of the offspring would be normals; 25% would be Leopards; 25% would be Mojaves; and 25% would be Leopard Mojaves.

Both Leopard and Mojave have been around for a while (Mojave longer than Leopard), as has the combo.

World of Ball Pythons Genetics Wizard is a good tool for looking at some of this stuff if you are interested:

Welcome to the forum. Nice looking snake!
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

    Etta, 2013
    1.1 Jungle Carpet Pythons

0.1 Normal Ball Python, Elvira, 2001
0.1 Olive (Aussie) Python, Olivia, 2017

Please excuse the spelling in my posts. Auto-Correct is my worst enema.

    Thanks everyone!
I will get on from my computer tonight and post a photo of her. She's got such a great personality, the perfect first snake for us!

That makes sense! I will definitely check out that site....I don't know much about snake genetics but it seems pretty interesting. I honestly think the shop owner is kind of full of it...but either way we got a wonderful baby!
