    please help!

i just got a shipment of two ball pythons, a pastel and a fire, the pastel is perfectly healthy, tame, and at a good size. The fire is also perfectly tame and healthy, but when i was making sure everything was okay, i notice that he makes a sound like someone trying to breathe with a stuffy nose and his breathing is audible, i just got him this morning, should i be worried?

Is it just normal breathing or is it hissing at you? If it is hissing it may be stressed from the shipping. If it is just normal breathing, is it going into shed as sometimes dry skin around the nostrils can cause a whistle?

I would contact the person that sent the snakes to you just to keep them up to date, then i would give the snake a few days to settle in without disturbing him or her. Sometimes BPs huff and puff or hiss when they are stressed or nervous which can sometimes make it sound like they have an RI. I wouldn't worry at this point.

I would treat the snake as being in the early stages of having an RI until proven otherwise, sometimes shipping stress can cause one to flare up. So, keep both a bit warmer than normal and I'd bump their humidity as well. Even if it's just a shed cycle and not an RI being more humid will help.

Hopefully these two are quarantined well away from the rest of your collection.

I would also let the seller know there may be a problem since these two just arrived today, most only give a short time for the health guarantee.
