    Carpet Breeders in Arizona?

Hello! My husband has his heart set on a Carpet Python - he warmed me up to the idea of snakes with Balls, and we ended up getting one of those first... he's a cutie, and I think he'll be a great pet, but DH is still searching for a Carpet. He'd like to buy from a local breeder if possible, but we are having the hardest time figuring out how to find any.

Our local Herp shops have indicated that they buy/source locals for much of their BP/CP stock, but of course they're not giving out their sources (which I understand - that's their business!) and either our Google-fu is weak, or breeders don't publicize themselves, because we haven't had a lick of luck in finding any info about local breeders.

Can anyone point us in the direction of Carpet Python breeders in Arizona? We live in Gilbert, AZ - anything in the Phoenix area, or even the Tucson area, would be fantastic.

    Cheers!

Chris Behof out of Phoenix. He also does marketing for Psychotic Exotics but they're out of SoCal.

You could just as easily order over the internet. Nick Mutton (Inland Reptile) and Justin Julander (Australian Addiction) are the authors of

THE COMPLETE CARPET PYTHON and have web orders going.

Ed Lilley of CONSTRICTORS NORTHWEST Makes Pro-Line cages and has some SMOKING hot carpets.

Those guys are all reputable and well known.

I understand you said AZ. but if you order on line it will still get to you quickly, and it opens up some options.

Having said that I bought my Coastal in my home state at the Minneapolis Reptile Expo so I get it LOL!

But I bought my boa constrictor on line and it was more exciting. The waiting is so brutal, yet so great!

There is nothing like looking for the FedX truck every 5 minutes on snake day!

    Thank you!

@bsd13 - I tried to look into Chris but couldn't find anything from him later than 2013, which gave me the impression that he had left the business.

@Gio - we found LOTS of places online, and DH was seriously considering a couple of them, but we really wanted to explore our local options before resorting to ordering a snake through the mail.

UPDATE: last week when we were out visiting the local Herp shops, one of the owners said he has a contact who is relocating and wanted to slim down his collection, and today he contacted DH with some text pics of some of the available Carpets - he has fallen for a very pretty Tiger/Jag/Jungle girl, we'll be bringing her home at the end of the week. :)

Not ruling out other additions to our burgeoning collection in the future, so if anyone knows of any breeders in the Phoenix or Tucson area, I'd still love to hear about them!

    Cheers!

    First off, Hi Neighbor!

Chris is certainly still active in the hobby. Here's his Facebook page: Chris Behof Reptiles. I only have BPs myself, but I've heard great things about him and his animals.

Find me on Facebook: E.B. Ball Pythons and Instagram: @EBBallPythons

:D Yay neighbors!! Thanks - I will pass this along.

I think I am going to be mostly interested in Balls myself, but he is really into the Carpets. The family that Herps together? :)

Wait until you see that carpet climbing around and busy every night. You'll find them incredibly hard to resist.

I highly recommend a display cage setup for the carpet, and the one you are getting sounds like a winner.

Buy the book I mentioned for your hubby too. It will give you both a better understanding of the various species.

    Have fun!

I exchanged emails with him back in March about a diamond jungle jag he had for sale. Ended up not getting her but yes he's still out there. I think I initially found his ad on fauna.

And grats on the new soon to be addition. Carpets are such neat animals.

Prepare for a climber and enjoy it.

I truly believe they are one of the best display snakes out there.

Thanks guys! The enclosure is going to be a display case type - I'll post a pic when it's done and full of snake! :) Looking forward to seeing the new girl climbing about and such... my little BP has come out of his hidey-hole and is getting comfortable in his new home (yay!) and he climbs a little, but not like I know the Carpet girl will.
