i'm wondering if it would be a good idea to take my baby bp to a reptile vet for a fecal check and for a general going over. she was captive bred and born and purchased from a reputable breeder. i know that it is a must for wild caught or bred snakes, but i was just wondering if it is necessary or helpful at all for cbb snakes.

Ive heard of captive bred snakes having parasites and problems also. I would just take him/her to the vet, better safe than sorry

I think it's a good idea. I took mine that was cbb from a reputable breeder. I found out he was very healthy, except when they checked the fecal sample, they found some worms, so she gave me some deworming medicine.

hmm ok. i guess i'll have to wait until i feed her so i can get a fecal sample. i guess it's one of those things where you're better off safe than sorry. and i definitely want my little girl to be happy and healthy.
oops, yeah better safe than sorry--like Brandon.O said.

Vet check-ups are definitely a good idea. Make sure you get a decently fresh fecal. Even if you dont have one to take with you the first time you go, see if you can bring one down the next time you little girl goes poo.

I called the vet to make an apointment (well ok my mom did but...) they said i needed to bring a fecal sample but when rocky goes poo i guess he does it at night becuase when i wake up and look at his cage sometimes i will see a poo in there but it is kinda hard and coated with his subsrate (eco earth) and im sure that i cant take that one to the vet, so any tips on getting a clean fresh (well i g uess there is never a "clean fresh" piece of crap) fecal sample to take to the vet ??

Use paper towels for the time* being.
Edit: Sorry for the misspelling, I had Megan curled up on my left hand.

Good suggestion Blink. Brandon ... i'd say just to take that one. BP feces is usually hard, they tend to use all the moisture they can.
