My first RI...OMG..kind of long.
two months ago I got a baby albino bp male along with our rainbow boa. The albino supposedly wasnt eating for them but I had no problem getting it to eat live mice so he has eaten for me now 5 times. We moved and Ive been super busy so basically just throwing in mice.He hasnt pooped since the last threee mice and really looks backed up which has me concerned too.
BUT the big problem is he is blowing bubbles and when I held him with his head and front of his body facing down a whole bunch of fluid came out.
He is in a rack system with flexwatt set to 90. Its been a struggle since we moved to get the snakes set up properly because the room temps have been fluctuating from 67 to 90. Weve had some weird weather and since this is a new house I didnt know what to expect.
So Biggest problem is we live in a small town in the country. There are no exotic vets.I will get him to our local vet on Monday but need to have a game plan if the guy knows nothing about snakes, which will most likely be the case. What should I expect and what should He do?????

Take a swab for cultures. I have read that F10SC in a fogger (at the right dilution of course) can help. Research that because I don't know anything about that. Thermostats to keep the tank at the right temps.
I hope it will be okay for your BP.

First off raise the temps a few degrees and keep them there. Lower the humidity also. That will Kickstart the immune system. You can also get a repti fogger and f10sc and a tub to nubilize (spelling?) it. The vet should either do a mouth swab culture or a lung wash. If they don't and just prescribe a treatment then they are wrong and you need to tell them so. An RI can be bacterial or fungal and it could also not even be an RI at all.

3cc in one of the repti fogger bottles. 20 minutes with the fogger on, paper towels on the bottom of the tub, and 20 of keeping the snake in there but with the machine off. Every day for 7-10 days. Every day shake the bottle too before turning it on. The f10 will settle at the bottom.

Thanks, should I do the f10 along with any antibiotics that the vet may give?
I feel like a failure, Ive had snakes for almost 20 years now and Ive gone through a snake that regurged, Ive had baby corns that didnt eat. and Ive taken lots of rescues with various problems. But this is my first true illness and its a bad one.If I hadnet been so busy I might have caught it earlier.
Ive only been to the vet in this town once with the dogs and I wasnt that impressed with him. We have two others in this town so I will be calling all three to see if any have experience with snakes at all.

Yes, I did the f10 home treatments at the same time as the vet treatment. Make sure you know exactly what meds they are giving and how often. Baytril should be every three days at a minimum. Fortaz or cephtazadime should be the same. Certain meds are hard on the snakes kidneys and shouldn't be given more than a certain amount of times between a certain number of days

The F10 product HAS to be F10SC. It has to be SC.

Call and ask if they have snake experience. If not then you might have to be getting the meds yourself and doing the injections yourself. You need a culture first though

After much reading I decided to just do the vet.
I cant get the F10 unless I order online and that will be a week before I get it, that along with the fogger and shipping is 80.00. Thats as much as the vet visit so I am going with a vet visit first and we shall see then if its worth doing the f10 nebulizer.
This all just sucks.

I doubt I can find antibiotics that dont require a prescription unless its something I can get at the farm/garden store like terramycin.
