    I need help!

So i've been trying to feed my baby ball python lately. I seem to have him interested cause he strikes and tries to get the little fuzzy mouse but seems to get intimidated that he cant get it. He seems so close but yet wont eat. Please help me figure this out. Ive had him for about 10 days so he is settled.

How many times have you tried to feed in those 10 days?!

The poor little dude is probably stressed. Leave him alone for a week. No handling. Only keep his cage clean and water fresh.

    Then try again.

If a snake is striking several times at a prey item it is usually a defensive strike. When they are trying to catch, kill, and eat it does not take many.

While the time is important to settle in so is the cage setup and it being left alone.

When you have a refusal you should wait at least 5 days before trying again. Failing to do so can stress the snake out and only make things worse.

Ive tried to feed twice in the 10 days. I was nervous that he was getting too skinny. But I will wait a week and try again. Thanks

Don't worry too much about him eating at this point. Concentrate on your temps and humidity and making sure you have at least two tight fitting hides for him. Maybe even a third hide would be even better. Absolutely no handling. Clean water and spot clean. Wait at least 10 days b4 you attempt another feeding.
Stay in peace and not pieces.

Awesome thanks I will give that a try. I know he ate live fuzzy mice before I got him but I wanna have him eat f/t. Is this possible for first feeding? It is hard to find live feed mice/rats
