    Air conditioning?

Hello I am getting my first ball python this weekend. I've done all sorts of research on temps and such. I understand that a hot spot should be around 90 and the cool side should be 80. But go no lower than 75 so I hear. I'm not an expert by any means just going off of what I've been told. During the day I have the air conditioner on in my room will this be Ok for the snake?

I set my HVAC thermostat to 76*F. That way my snakes are happy and my power bill isn't insanely high over the summer.

An infrared or probed thermometer is going to be able to give you more information that we can.

It's all about what the temp inside the enclosure is. You can live in an icebox if you want as long as you can keep the temps inside the enclosure in the right range.

Get a decent thermometer (and thermostat for the heat pad!) and let us know what the temps are. There are ways to help retain heat/humidity.

You're going to need to set your air conditioner to at least 74, otherwise maintaining your tanks temperature is going to be very difficult. From my experience, my ceramic heat emitter raises my tanks temperature by 6 degrees. So as long as you have your room at 74, you can maintain an 80 degree tank, with 88-90 belly heat.

Wow you like it cool lol. As long as you can keep the ambient around 75 and a hotspot of 88-90 you are in good shape.
