No. It doesn't really soak the moisture up and instead allows much of it to flow through the substrate and rest on the bottom of the tank. Also when you get it real wet it will bleed red onto things in your cage and stain things.

I like it but I only like it mixed into other substrates. I personally use cypress, Eco, and Repti together in many of my cages for a more natural look and feel.
