Instead of adding one large hole you could burn several smaller holes through the tub with a soldering iron.

Also put the holes up high on the hot side of the tub, and low on the cool side of the tub. As the heat rises in the hot side it flows out the holes, which pulls cool air in through the low holes on the other side of the tub, for cross-ventilation.
