Hello, I have a question that seems to be troubling me as I hear around how overkilling your breaker can be a pretty devastating thing. I just recently purchased the Herpstat 1 sometime last week and I am aware of its wattage (900 watts if anyone wants to know). I have it hooked up with a 4 tub rack with 4" heat tape that is about 70 to 140 watts. I also have the Herpstat connected with a failsafe Ranco thermostat that I had pre-wired with heavy duty 15 amp cord at their website. With all those electronics connected, they are followed up with a Tripp Lite surge protector. I know this may all sound complicated, and I'm very sorry for that, I'm trying to be as detailed so everyone can get a visual of what my set up is. Is this too overpowering? I just don't want to start fires, lol.
