Help.
Is it considered inhumane to leave a snake alone in their cage for a weekend without having anyone check up on it?

I would say no because as long as it has water it should be fine its not like a dog or cat that you half to feed every day

Re: Help.
No, assuming it is left with sufficient water, appropriate heat levels, and decent humidity leaving a snake to fend for itself for a few days is fine.

Re: Help.
But what if she poops or pees in her cage? She always gets really restless if she's stuck in there with her waste, and I don't want her to stress out. Her heat levels are always constant and she has a deep water dish that definitely could hold enough water for the weekend. But I just worry about the waste issue.

No, that is not inhumane. If its only a weekend and she has the same temp then that's ok. Do you have a timer? Or do you not use a light?

Re: Help.
I don't have a light for her cage currently (just natural lighting in my room), but she has an undertank heater that keeps it in the 80s on the warm side and in the low 90s in her hide on the warm side. When I first bought her I looked into lighting and a lot of the literature said it wasn't extremely necessary to buy lamps. Is this something I should reconsider?

No lots of people do not use lamps. You do not need one. You should be set then if it's a uth.

You're fine to leave your snakes over the weekend pending they have water. As attached as we all are to our reptiles, they absolutely do not need any attention from us to thrive. Handling reptiles is purely for our own sake and enjoyment. Their vestigial brains don't crave or need the attention that a dog, cat or any domesticated mammal does. Even if the snake poops they will be just fine until you return.
