You know you're crazy about snakes when...

Couple of weekends ago I was out hiking with about 10 other people. We were crossing a field and someone called out "SNAKE!"
Everyone took a few steps back, but I moved forward to get a better look.

(Was just a good-sized garter).

We were visiting my parents, out in the middle of the country in east Tx. The kids come running in, "There is a snake under the truck!!!" My mom: "grab the shovel!!" Me: "identify it first!! It could be helpful!!" My husband and I caught it and relocated it far away from their house. It was a 5' speckled king snake, but boy, did it try to convince us that it was a rattler!!
