shout out to the ladies :p
Haha seriously though, being a single guy and meeting new women, in my conversations the subject of pets is an inevitable topic, right? She asks "what kind of pets do you have?" I respond with "fish, dog, and a ball python" to which 9/10 times will be responded to by "eww" "yuck" or. "Gross".
This all being said, just wanted to give a quick shout out to all the reptile loving women out there. you give us hope :p

Trust me, guys aren't the only ones who have to deal with that kind of thing lol.
I've had reptiles for the majority of my life and still cannot get over some of the comments that people have. I was talking to a guy last week who asked if my 7 month old ball python could eat his German Shepherd. It's hilarious really.

Did you ask him if his German Shepard was the size of a mouse?
The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

Most people can't overcome their own ingrained fears in order to experience how beautiful our reptiles are, so people drawn to snakes are special(and I'm a little biased ). Instead of looking at it as scaring away 9 out of 10 people, you are just eliminating the muggles, leaving the 1 in 10 that are cool
That's a great way of looking at it. Love it

What if your other half (or potential other half) is weirdly biased... Jere likes my boa but doesn't care for my ball at all.

I'm all set in the significant other department (and he loves reptiles just as much as I do!) but I've gotten no shortage of those reactions from people. I've come to kind of enjoy it rather than be put off by it. The look I got from my boyfriend's 17 year old niece when I told her we now have 13 snakes was hilarious.
Plus, the excitement when you finally find someone who IS curious about them is great. We have a friend who doesn't like pets, just never saw the point of them... But he fell in love with our snakes, and wants one from our first clutch.

Re: shout out to the ladies :p
I have to admit, I was one of those that said "oh ew, no" when my husband said we should get a snake. Now we split his care and look at new cages etc for him together. I've also been able to get many friends to at least look at him while he's in his cage. My favorite comes from my boss "I couldn't imagine him (the snake) around the cats. Would he eat them?" Haha.
