What is the gallon size of the tank? You can solve the whole humidity issue if you invest in a "versa top". It will also help to boost your ambient tank temperatures. It's a folding glass top that comes with a plastic attachment that slides onto the glass panes. You will need to make holes in the plastic part to facilitate ventilation. I used them on all my tanks before I switched to racks.
