I thought I'd share a pic of my Bumblebee. I've got it for my son as it was born in the same month as him. Now 19 months. A bit small still. Only 472g but I'll be making an effort to get it up to size. Any tips on that regard?

Tip # 1 would be to maintain excellent husbandry, meticulous cleaning and feed him based on the 10-15 % rule every 10 days. Which means based on his weight he should receive that amount of food. 10% 0f 467gms is 46 is 46gms and so on. Good luck. 10% 0f 472 is 47gms.

The 10-15% rule is more for hatchlings. As far as "making an effort to get it to size" i suggest just feeding him the correct size food. The "look" of the snake is more important than the actual weight.

cheers guys, as it happens, the 45g-70g rats I've just got are slightly smaller than his widest width so looks good... I still feel he is slightly underweight though... I'm planning on every 7 days unless you can think of a reason why not...

Hey, bud - I see this recommended from you quite a bit. I mean the following in the nicest way possible:

The 10-15% "rule" only really applies to hatchlings up to about the 500 gram range (and they get fed every 4 days or so). Once they're above that, throw that rule out the window. It doesn't make sense to try and feed a 1000 gram snake a 100 gram rat, a 2000 gram snake a 200 gram rat, or a 3000 gram snake a 300 gram rat, and expect them to eat consistently for you. I mean, seriously - a 150+ gram rat is a pretty big meal for even the largest of females and you're saying that a 1500 gram snake should get one every 10 days. Not so much.

In my own collection, 500-1500ish get small rats (50-89 grams), females over ~1500 gets medium rats (90-139 grams), and adult males always get small rats even if they are over 1500 grams. They get offered weekly, unless they're in shed, and still skip a meal every now and again.
