    Kaytee Aspen Bedding

Hey everyone, I'm getting ready to do a full clean up in my snake tank, and I was wondering if Kaytee Aspen bedding could be used for snakes? He's currently on Repitbark and I'm just thinking of switching him to something a little different. Any advice on bedding would also be pretty helpful haha.

Kaytee works. I've also used Alphapet aspen(from Walmart) and that works too. I'm now using American Excelsior right now which my snakes seem to love. I pretty much just get whatever I can find for a good price as I do monthly changing and it adds up fast. I found a source where I can get the 7.5 cu ft bags of American Excelsior for $25 which works out great, it's just a bit of a drive to pick em up. Just make sure whatever you buy, its pure aspen and not a mix or something.

I think that stuff raises the humidity somewhat if I'm not mistaken. There may be a warning on the back of that product that says the state of California E.P.A. found it to be cancer causing. IDK if the cancer was towards the animal in the cage or to humans though. Check the back label. I don't use any Kaytee products any more. 100% cypress mulch is a better choice. Even regular shredded or coarse aspen. That cancer warning is on their small animal bedding as well! It may be something in the ingredient nonetheless its not a good choice being suspect.
