Ok so I finally got my girl BP. Turns out she is six years old instead of 3 and she weighs in at around four pounds. I'm not sure of her length. But lookin at her, I must say she is at the four foot mark. The problem is she has some serious belly rot! almost 2/3 of her lower half is rotted and stinks like anything! The guy I got her from said he had gotten her as a rescue case, but could not afford to keep her anylonger. He said she had refused to eat. The first thing that I did when I got her home was feed her four large mice scented with gerbil bedding and that did the trick! Her eyes turned blue today so hopefully she will be able to she out all that rotten scales. Anyone got any advice for me?

haha the obvious "make sure she is in a dry environment" for now. Aside from making sure that all is dry beneath her I don't know what to tell you ... hopefully rusty or marla or someone will be along soon.

Hmm what are you keeping her on? I'd keep an eye on the humidity and make sure it doesn't get too moist and exacerbate the scale rot and be on generous layers of newsprint (if you aren't already). Some of those symptoms can be caused by bacterial infections, possible nutritional deficiencies and confusingly from both overly moist and overly dry conditions. Quite a constellation of possibilities I know - I would advise to keep an eye on it - put on some antibacterial ointment especially if the scales look like they are suppurating, see how the shed goes but in any case I'd want a vet in on that to make sure she didn't need any serious antibiotics administered. Great job on the feed btw.

Right now I keep her on Paper Towels. I also put Reptisafe in her water bowl. I've noticed that she drinks for long periods of time. Is this normal with adult BP's? I will be taking her to the vet sometime next week and hopefully they will be able to treat her condition if it does not improve with the shed.

This is definitely a case to take to the vet. Paper towels are a good choice of substrate to help you monitor, and you definitely want to go for the low side of humidity right now. If you see her soaking, I'd reduce the size of the water bowl so it's not big enough for her to get in. And as I'm sure you know, keep her away from the others. I'm sorry to hear she's in such rough shape, but congrats on your new addition anyhow!

That is great that it ate for you and its even better that you are taking the time to care for what is obviously a neglected snake!
In addition to what the others have recommended for the scale rot is to wide her down with an iodine (betadine) solution. Mix the iodine with luke warm water until it is the color of tea. Then wipe down the snake with the solution in the direction of the scales. Once the iodine has had time to dry then apply the antibiotic ointment. Keep a very close eye out for any signs of a respiratory infection and definitely make that trip to the vet.... sometimes scale rot can be signs of other things going on. For the feedings... bring her back up to speed gradually... the four mice unless they were small mice could be very hard on her digestive system especially if she hasn't been eating. Wait 7-10 days and try to offer a rat that is slightly smaller than what you would normally feed a snake her size.
Look, sometimes bad things happen, and there is nothing you can do about it, so why worry?

I can't believe that people allow their snakes to deteriorate like that. It is so easy to just clean out your cages regularly; it takes me less than five minutes to completely sanitize a snake tank. There's no reason to neglect them like that!
Congrats on your rescue case. Now that she is in good hands, she's lucky!

may want to soak her in a betadine solution to help sterolize/clean out infections.
