What does everyone keep their temperatures at? is mine good enough?

I'm just curious. I have a 2 year old ball python who is still relatively small (two feet give or take) so i'm afraid if he doesn't get enough heat he wont be healthy.. Currently the ambient temp is 83 and I have a basking spot for him at 90. is this good enough for him?

How are you measuring your temps? Those are solid temperatures though.

I have a Thermometer that i move around and see what the temps are in different places, right now its dropped down to about 82 and the hot spot is like 87. Im sure this is fine tho right? I'm a little paranoid seeing as hes my first snake and I want to keep him nice and healthy.

I forgot to add that if i needed to, I can put on an additional light which cranks the hot side up to about 88 and the basking spot up to 96, but i thought this was too warm for him so im keeping it lower now.

    Fall/Winter

75 cool side (using a oiled filled heater) - 86/88 warm side (heat tape)

Warmer months 86 no hotspot (using the room ambient temp)

What kind of thermometer is it? The reason I ask is because if it's the analog dial ones, they're not very accurate. I'd recommend a digital thermometer (if you don't already have one).

Current temps in Ghana, Africa right now for the week average: 79-81 for the lows and 89-91 for the highs. I think your temps are perfect don't go above 92 though for warm side or under 79-80 for cool. Some breeders use a median of the cool and warm sides and just a ambient of ~86 year round no hot spot and that works fine too.

I have a digi thermometer already but thanks its spring now, are my temps still good? Like I said I can crank it up to 88 ambience if I needed to with a hot spot of about 96 but one of my lights aims into the tank and creates a hotspot no matter what. :/
