    Newbie needs help!

I got these two lights from my friend, but hes not doing the best job explaining what is what. I have a single purple light, and also a two-in-one light that has a bright light on one end and a purple-y light similar to the first on the other, when I hit the switch, both lights come on. Will someone please tell me the use for each of these lights and when I should use which light? Pics enclosed below.

Additionally, Will things like my TV or my lamp affect my snakes day\night cycle? Please help and it is appreciated!

No I don't, but the current temp in my tank is at 81 F and climbing if that matters

You dont need the white light at all, you can use just the one bulb if it gets the tank hot enough and if not throw bothof the purple bulbs into the double light and use that, but that will prob get to hot unless you put the light on a dimmer to controll the temps.

Oh that makes sense, I've read BP's need no special type of lighting. Gonna put the single into the double and heat the cage that way which seems to work best

I'm still curious as to what type of lights I have, do I need a basking light? Will my TV or my Lamp affect my snakes day/night cycle? Thanks!

So the light looks like its maybe for geckos since it has a UV bulb. Ball Pythons don't need any UV lights.

In regards to the tv and lamp, your BP will be just fine. I had my BPs in my bedroom for a couple of years before they got their own room. Just make sure he has plenty of places to hide. I'm a believer in fake plants.

I realized I didn't answer your question. You'll need a heat lamp depending on your temperatures. For glass tanks I usually recommend a dome with a ceramic heat emitter bulb (CHE) which only provides heat. Having a dome on a dimmer will help you adjust the temperature of your ambient temperature as well as your hot spot.

This is what I used when I had a glass tank:http://www.petmountain.com/product/r...lamp-lamp.html

    *Update*

I went out and bought this

Which put my ambient temp up to 82 and his basking spot is 87. I still want something with more juice tho maybe putting the purple light next to the red? I'm also wondering that when the sun shines through my window, if it will increase the temp of his cage and make his basking spot hotter. I guess we will have to see in the morning
