1st feeding

So I just feed my python for the first time. Its a female about 6 months old. It killed the mouse but didn't eat it. Should I be concerned? Is this normal? If so when should I try again? Thanks in advance!

It is quite often the case if your snake has lost interest or if she struck out of fear. I had a snake who just could not seem to find the right end to start eating and he would lose interest and not eat. Also, if the snake is very new to you and is scared, she may have strike the mouse out of fear, killed what was scaring her and high tailed out of there. Try again on her next feeding day.

I would leave the mouse in there overnight and if its not eaten by morning, toss it out and try again in a week or so. Also make sure husbandry is good like temps and most of all proper hide boxes so the snake feels secure. My BP is a beast and has more food drive than either of my BCIs. My BCIs both though will drop the rat after they constrict it(I feed fresh killed), then they exam it for about 5 mins, then find the head and swallow it. Some snakes are shy especially when new and wont feed with lights on etc.

Oh and this is assuming the mouse is dead. Never leave a live rodent in with the snake unattended.
