    Shedding isn't just about out-growing their skin. Mammals shed skin constantly...it's just done all over in tiny little pieces we rarely ever notice, unless you've got a bad case of dandruff . Skin wears out and needs to be replaced from time to time. Same with reptiles. So even if they don't seem to be "growing", a snake will still shed its skin on a regular basis, just not as often.
