    Back in action! DUW

I'm welcoming myself back after a long hiatus. New job...new home...new reptiles, etc etc etc. Just been busy and took a break from being an avid poster. But, I'm back in action. Things are looking great for my 2014-2015 season!

    Clutch #1
lemonblast AND firefly het hypo (possible YB) x Normal
I'm really hoping the firefly is the father because he went off feed and dropped roughly 15% of his body weight so he got pulled from breeding. This was the only female he was paired to, so I'm hoping he nailed her. Plus...I decided I didn't like the quality of the lemonblast and decided to invest in a higher quality male. It's also important to note that she was bred to a fire about 2 years ago (before I bought her) but I highly doubt he's the father.

This female was roughly a 3200g when she laid an 8 egg clutch (850g) on 2/10/2015. This is her first season (not for lack of trying the last two seasons) They are on Day 48 as of 3/30 and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens! The roll out in the picture is still thriving.

    Dads:

^ This particular male has been sold and is no longer mine.

    Mom on eggs:

    Clutch #2
    Lemonblast x Dark Normal
I bought this female on 3/4/15 and she ovulated 3/6/15. She is also a first-timer. I bought her to incorporate in to some dark morph projects. Never would I have bred this female to a bright-morph male. Unfortunately, she was bred to a lemonblast and I'm left with a very high potential for low-quality, muddy lemonblasts. I'm almost 80% sure these babies will be wholesaled. Currently, I'm waiting on her to have her POS, but I anticipate her "due" around April 30th-May 1st. She's already gone blue...just waiting on her to shed.

    Mom:

She's deep in shed and I just misted her, but this is what she usually looks like when she's not glowing. This picture was taken tonight.

    Clutch #3
Yellowbelly het hypo x Normal het hypo
I'm REALLY looking forward to this clutch. I'm in LOVE with the male and I'm looking at hopefully getting a 1.1 hypo version of him to hold back. This female took last year off (bred to the same male) because she had some digestive issues that had to be treated with antibiotics. However, the reptile vet that saw her through her care gave her a clean bill of health for this season. She appeared to be ready and ovulated for me on 03/15/2015. She shed this morning so her "due" date to drop her clutch is 4/29/15. Her last clutch was laid in May 2013 so she's right on track despite her setback last season.

    dad:

    Mom:

The following are also some pairings that I'm working on...hopefully at least a few of these girls will give me later clutches.

Queenspin x Normal - female last laid 08/2013 and took last year off.
Queenspin x Pastel - female also last laid 08/2013 and took last year off (she was a breeder loan and I recently purchased her back)
Yellowbelly het hypo x Vanilla - Proven female who in January had 8mm follicles.
Pewter x Bumblebee - Virgin female sitting at 1600g (probably closer to 1700g). She's been paired a few times, but I recently purchased the female so if she lays...she lays. If not, she'll be bred in the fall.

The 2015-2016 season should be much more exciting! I have several more females hovering around 1000-1300g and a few males that should all make breeding weight by fall. Stay tuned!

Thank you! I'm really looking forward to some of these clutches. Now I'm just waiting for clutch #1 to hurry up and pip! Day 53 today and I'm already a little impatient.

    Re: Back in action! DUW

Clutch #1 hatched between 4/8 and 4/9. What a bummer...all I wanted was a 0.1 firefly! Here's what the odd gods gave me:

3.1 Pastel (one male looks like he could be a firefly...a few sheds should tell me)
    1.2 Fires
    1.0 Firefly

So male heavy! I've decided NOT to holdback any unless one of the fire females sheds and looks stunning. I may want to throw her to a hypo male to prove her out. We'll see when both girls shed. I will say this, the fires are the nicest of all the babies! Once they all shed and eat, I'll be taking some good pictures of them to update this thread with.

Clutch #2 and #3 have yet to be laid, but I expect I'll see some eggs in about 10-20 days from both females.

It happens! It could have been worse, I could have gotten normals. I was due for a bad odd clutch. I just didn't want it to be this one because this is my only chance at a female firefly (I pulled the male from breeding). Oh well. There's always next season!

It's really no biggie! If I get the 1.1 hypo yellowbellies, then he'll go to my het hypo next season.

I get a lot of satisfaction from producing babies I want. A little patience is all I need

I suppose he could. Nothing has popped up before. I bet he's just a really nice yellowbelly with some great het hypo influence.
