Walter had shed just prior to me getting him, first four feedings went flawless and I thought everything was going perfect. Had done my research and I think my husbandry is pretty spot on. His 5th feeding he wouldn't strike but did eat the f/t fuzzy rat I left in his tank. 6th feeding he refused and left rat was not eaten. Then he spent pretty much a solid week in his cool hide and to my knowledge never came out and I figured he was getting ready to shed as I would think he was due but no physical signs he was going in shed. So last night I get home and go down to check on him and he's out of his hide and hanging out on his stump, last night was feeding night. When I go to feed him later he's back in his hide but comes out and slams the rat and coils like he used to do.
For that week to 10 days he sure acted like he was going into shed, has it ever been known for them to do that and then NOT shed? Only other thing I can think of as a cause for his behavior change is maybe I was handling him too much, I haven't done so in a week and he seems to be now back to how he was. He's never struck at me but does seem extremely timid and scared when I first get him out. Either that or he's just plain screwing with my mind and doing a pretty good job at it.![]()
