Roo and roswell have been caged together for a few weeks now (ever since the mite attack). They both had mites so we caged them otgether and treated them the exact same. They shared a cage, a water bowl, and for some reason their hide. There are 3 hides and 1 partial hide. They choose to bunk together. They seem happy. They lay there all day.. and lay there some more. Roo just finished her shed, and roswell is not far behind. They are doing things like shedding together now. But i think there was some talking behind my back, while i was sleeping. We fed Roo today. she has never had a problem eating before. My girlfriend has had her for about a year and a half now, and Roo ate the same way every time. She would strike, coil, and eat head first. Today she ate butt first. Something she has never attempted in the year and a half she was owned. Now she seems to have the same taste for butt Roswell digs. What up with this? Are they talking to each other about what taste better? Can snakes pick up habbits from each other. I can see they do have personalities, and individual characteristics, but can they change their behavior when influenced by another snake?

I don't think that they have that kind of cognition. They operate on pure instinct, and I won't pick up habits from another snake. Chances are this is just random, but I'm really suprised your bp actually got it down butt first. Did the tail fold around? The back legs didn't get caught on her jaw? My BP is a bit of a butt pirate as well, but she usually figures out where the head is after a few minutes and grabs it when she does eventually find it.

she had a little trouble eating it butt first, but she did get it down. i had to help her out with my tongs, but it worked out. she was even peeking out of the hide this morning.. that is until i put a towl over to block her from the light. the tail was not a problem, it just folded over like no big deal. the legs were a bit of trouble, but i had tongs to fold up the legs for her. i tried pulling the mouse away before it was in too far, but she wasnt going to have me take her meal, so i decided helping her instead of fighting was best.
