    Quick question.

My pastel girl I've been hoping is gravid went from being super bright to her normal darker colors literally overnight. Could this be a sign of a pre ovy shed? I don't have pics just yet I'll post some when I get home.

Typically, they will get a glow to them before they go. Have you checked for follicles?

Here is a great link to check out well http://ballpython.ca/gallery/breeding/

I have and I'm terrible at it, she tenses up every time and I can't feel anything. I was pretty sure I saw an ovy about a week ago.

Sometimes it helps if you use a old t shirt or something similar to reduce friction when checking for follicles :-)

If you spotted a ovulation a week ago she should be going into shed any day now

    Best of luck!

I can never feel the follicles either. I would wait to see if she sheds. After which if she has ovulated you should get eggs in about twenty seven days. At least that's how it's worked out for me.

Thanks for the advice. When you use the shirt do you hold her with the shirt or palp with the shirt?

Is she staying on the hotspot? If she ovulated she should be hanging out on the hotspot constantly. Best of luck

I hold her with the shirt draping over the top wrapping under the bottom and let her move through it while I feel for the follicles.

    Re: Quick question.

She's been pretty well stuck to her waterbowl for quite some time. But since she started going dark she's been in the waterbowl. I'll give the shirt thing a try later.

    Re: Quick question.

If she is hanging out in or wrapped around her waterbowl, then she most likely is still building and has not ovulated. I have a girl who has been in her waterbowl for 6 days now as she has gone through the entire shed cycle in there. She should shed late tonight or tomorrow most likely.
