Like others have said the biggest issue to worry about is ischemic necrosis in restricted areas like tail tips, as well as eye caps. That being said, I have seen rescued snakes in vet clinics that look like they haven't had a normal shed in years. After soaking we literally had to help peel layers of shed off the animal, and it lived to be a happy healthy snake. Don't freak out. Just soak snake in warm water, grab a damp towel and gently let the snake move through it.
I'm not freaked out, I've never really had a problem with shedding with my guys. It was from a YouTube video by Viperkeeper where he mentioned the severity of stuck sheds. I was just curious if it was true and it apparently is, now in his case he's trying to help a black mamba out of a stuck shed which is altogether frightening and entertaining all at once. I've been hooked on his videos for weeks now but believe me I have no interest in owning venomous reptiles. LOL
