I've got eastern legless lizards in my backyard, and while they are cool they do not compare to the ones in this thread. Are they the same?

The easterns are in the genus Ophisaurus. They're a beautiful species, especially mature males, but are more prone to practice caudal autonomy - willfully dropping their tails. Scheltopusiks were in the same genus until they got their very own - Pseudopus.
