Hi guys!

My boy is going through his first shed with me and it's not the best shed right now, his belly and head are completely off but the rest is slowly coming off in small pieces. I know this can be a humidity issue. I read some places online and they said you don't need a humidity hide box because balls aren't tropical snakes and their scales can't withstand the moisture but other places have said its best to make one to make sure the humidity is right for them during a shed. I've got a bowl of water that's pretty big in there since I also read they'll want to soak themselves after a shed and I spray his viv down with a little bit of water each day and I truly don't know how well it's helping but I would assume something is better than nothing right? I'm not sure who to believe so I figured I'd go to the people who I assume know the most as this is their passion.

Also, I read that you don't even need a heat lamp? But the lady at the pet store said that he needs a heat lamp. Plus my dad has a conniption every time I turn the heat up in my room so I figure he needs it right?

Last but not least...climbing. He's constantly climbing on top of his hides and his plant and likes to wrap himself around my glasses when he can. Store bought branches are pretty expensive and I never really know what wood it's being made out of. I read something on here about somebody soaking wood and baking it, could I do that with branches I find outside and then it'll be safe? I want to give him the best life possible but I also want it to all be safe an secure for him.

Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to slowly get his cage up to the right standards but I don't want to blow all of my paychecks at once each time I get paid so if anybody has any homemade things I can try I'd love that!
